1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

Click on the small chart to see them in bigger, with options to change rollout, tune it virtually, etc...

Fiat X 1/9 turbo (Soma)

Kiskunlacháza, 2007.06.09.

The new star of the Hungarian drag scene.
He improved a whole second in each of the last two races he ran in! His best is 11.18 @ 200, which makes easily makes this car member of the Hungarian Top10. Also on our lists the car has a very high ranking, especially in the 1/8 ET and the 0-100 km/h views.
The car has a turbocharged 1.6 liter 8v Fiat Ritmo engine, very light with minimalistic interior, etc.
This launch is absolutely fantastic, and with only two driven wheels! Of course without the mid engine layout and the slick it would not be so capable, but hey, it has both of these features! :)
As you can see the upshifts are quite slow, there's a huge room for improvement. With a little power boost it will surely hit a 10 very soon.
(This run was officially timed at 11.26 @ 198)

GMC Syclone
(1 people)    photo 1  _2_     carstyling.hu datasheet

2007.05.31.

The Syclone now on special fuel, with a bit less conservative program. Higher boost, bigger advance.
Falco was fighting for a 10 second 1/4 mile for quite some time, now in this run he managed to do so if only virtually. (Later, on 9th June he finally managed to run a 10.92.) Despite the nice numbers this run is not perfect by any means.
The launch is very soft, the first half a second is wasted. Considering the slick tires, peak acceleration is low too. Still it goes very well till 140 km/h where it shifts to 3rd, which he holds into the finish.
Looking on the power chart there's a huge fall near the end. Over 100 horses went asleep!
And even in 2nd gear, you can notice this, power falls before the upshift, perhaps that's why this 2->3 shift is so prominent on the chart. (1->2 is barely noticable at around 55-60 km/h)
Perhaps the engine is revved beyond its power range?

Audi 90 (DemeRobi)

Kiskunlacháza, 2011.09.24.

We put in the logger to the black Audi 90 on the last raceday, at Kiskunlacháza. On this day he runs his personal best run (10.827@207.33), but this run was only 11.02@206.83. After the gearshifting the engine loose some turbo boost, what we can see on the performance graph. This car is a full street legal car and i think he can make a lot of surpsires on the roads. :-)

Nissan GT-R
(1 people)    photo 1  _2_  _3_

Tököl, 2008.10.25.

It's probably the first GT-R in Hungary, and it's already modded. It has a basic air filter, exhaust upgrade, and maybe also some chipping was done.
The owner insisted that boost is at stock levels.
Anyway, it's clear that the wheel power figures we logged are almost matching the catalog flywheel figures*, so it's not a stock car, that's for sure.
The conditions weren't ideal at Tököl airfield, the huge 20" wheels' tires didn't found much grip. Still some impressive figures were recorded.
I always wanted to log a double clutch car, to see if they're really that effective, as they say they are. Well, it takes a trained eye to see the gearshift points on this g curve. They are at slightly after 2seconds, just before 4, after 6 and at around 9.5 seconds.
Officially this run was timed 11.19 @ 201 km/h, probably needing the huge, ~18" rollout because of its big wheels.

*: Two articles on the web when they test GT-R's on rolling roads.

Subaru Impreza WRX STI (SR)
(1 people)    photo 1

2007.04.21.

Hungary's fastest Impreza.
Not only that, but among those who try with a 2.0 liter engine, it's in the world's top10!!
We have logged this car every year since 2004, and it always improved. No change in that!!
The car had winter tires on, to limit traction. Too good traction is a problem on the race tracks, it tends to bog down a bit. Well, not here, as the tarmac was a bit dusty too. In short the launch could be even better, helping to shave another 1-2 tenths possibly.

VW Karmann Ghia nitro

Rábaring, 2006.04.08.

With its new 2.6 liter engine it's much faster than last year. We were lucky enough to capture its best run both for data and video.
It's launching quite softly, but in a second it's mayhem, above 1 g with just two driven tires, well it's not a common sight on ordinary tarmac.
As he just shifted before 80 km/h, the 80-120 time is magnificent, in fact it's the fastest streetable car I ever logged. (Only the drag Jeep was faster)
But even with an average gearchange's time it could be under 2 seconds, which is very very fast.
The 1/4 mile trap speed suffered from backing off too early, about 2-3 km/h were lost there.
But overall, you did well, Mexx! :)

Lancia Delta HF Integrale (DCS)
(1 people)    photo 1  _2_     carstyling.hu datasheet

2005.11.04.

After the turbo only run, we managed to log a run with added nitrous power! As the run is far from perfect, the figures are nothing sort of amazing!

Unlike most AWD cars, this Delta launches with a slipping clutch. Mosty to save the transmission. As it has a very long first gear, it makes sense.
Because of this, the first tenths are spent with a very soft launch. This hurts zero rollout ETs quite badly, but it's not so much of an issue with 12" rollout.

Compared to a good Audi S2 launch, the difference is clear. For the Audi it only takes 0.26 seconds to cover the first 12", but for the Lancia it's 0.42 sec!
As this time is "free", not included in the ET, such a soft launch doesn't hurt the results on the racetrack.

Unfortunately the nitro wasn't spraying in 3rd gear for an unknown reason. Too bad, but at least you can clearly see how big the shot is. (on the 520 scale)

It's a sport-touring bike, altough I don't know much about motorcycles. Unfortunately it couldn't keep the front wheel on the tarmac, so the log overreads a bit. Anyway it's quite fast, that's for sure.

Porsche 911 turbo TechArt (morzol)

Kiskunlacháza, 2009.04.19.

Tech Art tuning 997 with Tiptronic gearbox. On paper this engine is 580HP at the flywheel.
Quite a nice start. Acceleration is constantly above 0.8g while in first gear. The upshifts are quite noticable thanks to the very peaky engine characteristics. 2nd runs out around 120 km/h, 3rd near the finish line at 190 km/h.
Quite a performance from a luxury sports car.
