1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

Click on the small chart to see them in bigger, with options to change rollout, tune it virtually, etc...

The 2.2 liter stroked Impeza improved his best once again. The turbine housing was downsized a step and the result shows on the chart. 0-100 km/h in less than 4 seconds, that's not bad! And that includes two gearchanges due to the short gearing.
Of course this improvement also comes from a better launch. It has a MOTEC launch program, but no launch control. Nevertheless I love the sound of building up the boost.
The only problem with the run is the missed fifth gear, a few km/h was lost regarding the 1/4 trap speed.

We modified a lot of things on the car, and it became faster, than the previous run. The block is still stock, but we changed the cold side of the turbo, and now we use the stock ecu istead of the Pectel E2. It's programmed by Extrem Ecu. And we put in bigger, 1450 cc injectors for the etanol fuel. The redline is 7800 rpm now, therefore the car can run the 0-100 km/h accelaration in the second gear. The temperature was cca -5 degrees, but the car run very good start with the Hakapelita tyres.

Tököl, 2006.10.22.

The car is improving, but not without issues...
Just like last time there's a huge power loss in 4th gear due to some kind of ECU error.
The 1/4 trap speed is affected quite badly by this.
Traction was better, now it can pull over 0.8g, which is quite an achievement.
We logged two runs, the other one had the same ECU error, but also featured a bad launch. Due to too much traction it bogged down badly. But in 2nd gear the car managed a 80-120 in just over 1.5 seconds, which is equivalent to what the Jeep dragster did...

2005.03.16.

Another serious car enters the Hungarian scene,
it's just finished. This car represents a new marque among the 7 second cars. (1/8 mile times!)
And this run isn't perfect by any means. It bogged down a bit after the first second, but luckily it had enough power to pull again in 1st before the gearchange. From 2nd gear on it's a clear run, showing great power all through the gears.
Those with eagle eyes might also notice that the front wheels slip first, rears are a bit delayed. Noticing this we also tried different YAW settings, but all the other logs show a more definate bog-down.
Anyway if the launch program gets updated it might be a very different story. We'll see.
The car sports the TODA 2.3 liter stroker kit, HKS 3037 turbo, MOTEC M800, etc... Very nice spec. :)

We log a new run from the Audi of Bunker. They give a harder program to the Whistler ecu with same turbo boost (1.6 bar). We can see this on the power graph. The car has more power, and smaller turbo lag. The start is much better, than before, but he use same tyres and the weather was same cold. This 0-100 result was logged with totally stock weight and totally street legal things. I hope we can log a new run with higher turbo boost, because he will use the turbo boost over 2 Bar. :-)

Kiskunlacháza, 2011.09.24.

We record this car before. Now they do something with the engine, what we can see on the the power graph. This run official time was 12,025@180,29, and we can see same time, when we put 30 cm roll out. This run was the worst of the day but it make brutal start. He make 1,3 G, and this 60 feet was only 1,8 sec. His best 60 feet was 1,55 sec. I hope we can record that nice start too next year. His personal best result is: 11,59@187,4

Honda CRX (Krysio)

Tököl, 2008.05.31.

This polish CRX is a fine example of all motor tuning.
Krysio had already finished his qualification, but agreed to make one more run to have this log made.
To save his tires, he didn't do a burnout before the run. Thus the offical time of 11.83 @ 196 is surpri-singly good compared to his best on the day (11.78)
The log matches the official time quite well if the rollout is set to 8". This means there was quite a bit left in this run, as the theoratical maximum is around 15" in the idenso timing system.
Well, let's see the run. The launch is not bad. And then come these incredibly long gears. With the not too peaky power curve the car makes good use of the long gears, reaching the 1320 feet finish line in 3rd!
The upshifts are also amazing, sub 200ms!
The engine is a hybrid k24/k20, with almost stock heads with Toda cams and ITBs, forged internals, 14:1 static compression ratio, Hondata computer.
And it's not a heavy car... His best was ran at Tokol too, this April. (11.29 @ 201)

Taszár, 2007.05.01.

Poland's fastest diesel car visited a race at Taszar ex US military Airport so obviously I had to log it. :)
The car has all wheel drive, and a 1.9 TDI engine with a small nitrous shot. I like that it emits a lot less smoke than the Hungarian fast diesels.
It was a nice run, with a good launch and fast gearchanges. (this run's timeslip in our "dragbase")

He won the race in the diesel category comfortably with a best of 11.98 @ 179 km/h.

Feel free to comment, szymic. :)

This is quite a hybrid Audi. It's got a tuned 20V turbo engine from an S2, gearbox from a V8, custom driveshafts, etc. all packed into a lightweight chassis.
We logged the car previously too. (to see, select the other entry on the selector just above the chart)
It already had a similar engine, but this one is much more powerful. In fact it proved too be too powerful for one of the custom driveshafts, and it broke on the next launch attempt after this which you can see here. This attempt was made into a quite strong headwind, this probably cost a few km/h at the top end.

Kiskunclacháza, 2008.10.11.

We logged this in early October, in perfect sunny weather. The hardware didn't change much since the last log, but the figures did. While power output is greater too, the main difference comes from the marvellous first gear traction. Remember this wasn't on a prepped tracked, it's just a dusty concrete airfield. Amazing 0.85g peak right after the start, where it matters the most. Even after the perfect upshift the g curve is continuing where the last gear finished. The limiter was hit in 2nd gear just before the gearchange, but that's the only mistake there is in this run. The huge peak in 4th gear indicates that the driver didn't lift off during the gearshift.
The 2008 dragracing.hu champsionship overall win was well deserved for this well prepared car, and its clever driver. Congratulations!
