1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

Click on the small chart to see them in bigger, with options to change rollout, tune it virtually, etc...

Much better launch than last year, there's not a hint of clutch slip. Power wise there's not a big difference, although there's a hike in the lower revs, so the power curve is now showing a falling tendency. It's nothing major. Fourth gear was just not enough for the 1/4 mile, trap speed could have been better.

Tököl, 2007.08.18.

My own racecar was never listed among the logs, because I was never satisfied with its runs. I didn't have proper tires, had unsuitable gear ratios, and the engine constantly had head gasket failures.
For the biggest Hungarian international race (EESLC) I had the car prepared as best as I could. I fitted another engine from my old red racecar, quite battered but still has some go. I bought a new set of slick tires, which worked a threat, as you can see. A reconditioned gearbox was fitted as well, good ratios, and no problems finding the next gear even on flatshifts.
I didn't pushed her too much, I only wanted to do a nice and clean run, which turned out to be my personal best to date. Sadly there'll be no more new records, as the car was written off by a stupid taxi driver while my 5 was parking... :(

It's a very fast and very light Skoda 1000MB from 1969, with totally modded head. The full weight of the car is 620 kg without the driver. :-) This run was 13,1@165,3, but on that raceday he made his personal best time: 12,874@164,4. Next year we will record it again hopefully with sperr diff.

Engine:
- 1550 ccm
- Douple weber carburator

Tököl, 2008.04.20.

When I first saw Gianni's name in the registration list for the King Of Europe East event, I knew I had to take the opportunity to log one of its runs. I knew the car from before, I even saw it in the flesh last year, so I knew what to expect. After bridging the language barrier I mounted my instruments in the car, and we logged four runs in total. In the first ignition problems in 4th prevented a good result. After fixing it power was good, but Gianni messed up the start a bit.
In this, the third attempt everything was good, officially it was timed 12.28 @ 202 km/h, which is pretty much spot on with my log with a rollout of 15". (At Tokol the maximum rollout possible is 16".)
In Sunday, he run even better, managing a best of 12.005 @ 207 and then proceeded to win the stock street category. Congratulations, Gianni, also thumbs up for your team!
A few things about the car. It has the same old 1.4 liter 8v OHV engine as my car, but with a nice fat shot of nitrous. In fact two.
Finally, about the run. Gianni mounts his Toyo R888 tires backwards. Looking at the chart I can't say that it's working. The tires keep spinning beyond 140 km/h! The upshift are quite fast, but there is a slight lag in 2nd gear, but it's not bad at all. Power in 3rd gear was magnificient, but in 4th power levels drop significantly. In the 2nd run we logged 4th gear was perfect too, but then the start was messed up.

It's an Evo6 RS edition. The car weight is very light. It's cca 1450 Kg with 2 person. It has forged pistons and rods, and a GEMS computer with stock turbo. The power is not so hard, but this is enough for the stock turbo because it can't make more power. I think he can shift much faster, because this is very light.

Stock 2 liter STI engine, with ECUTek engine management.
We only logged one run, there was quite a bit of clutch smell in the car. :)
But it's quite a good run, the only issue is that it missed out the full 1/4 mile by about 50 meters.

2006.12.02.

The car changed a lot since last summer's log, and it's performance figures improved significantly.
The engine is the same 4 liter V8, but the gears are much shorter thanks to the 3.25 M3 LSD.
The car lost around 100kg in weight.
And the traction! It's much, much better, even though the 63/20 Michelin cut slicks are a bit over their lifetime.

Kiskunclacháza, 2008.04.20.

The Punto in race conditions. It was lighter and was running on Kumho 200/530R13 slick tires.
The first gearshift is a bit slow, the driver was cautious not to misshift like in the earlier run we also logged on that day.
Officially this run was timed 13.19 @ 179, but it could have been a 12, had he not staged that deep. He only left himself 2 cm (~1 inch) of rollout!
But he was happy, because in an earlier run he did his first 12, (12.94 @ 179)

2009.08.09.

1979 model, 5.7liter V8 with a single Holley carb, 200-R4 automatic transmission with 3.42 final gear.
The run was made on Nitto Drag Radials, but a not so sticky tarmac.
We could only log one run with the 100shot of nitrous, as the tank emptied during the run.
You can compare this nitrous run against the other we did without gas.
Officially the cars best 1/4 mile is 12.41 @ 179. As we almost matched the trap speed the difference must come from the increased traction on the prepped surface of the Kiskunlachaza strip.
(This run with 12" rollout is 12.87)
