1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

2006.05.18.

The new little Audi arrived. Altough it's a fair bit slower than the original, it's still pretty good for a daily driver.
It uses a 20valve turbocharged engine, but the turbo itself is significantly smaller than it was in the old car.
The launch is worse too, but still it feels pretty fast.

Kiskunlacháza, 2008.09.27.

Street car, GT22 turbo, custom cam, race injectors, Toyo R888 tires. In this run he was slightly slower than his best, still the 13.31 @ 174 km/h official figures are impressive for such a heavy diesel car. The launch is good for streetable tires and the whole run is problem free, power curve is nice too.

Clutch slip for the first second, then a bit of bogging down, but not too severe. Still, it's a pretty good time for a standard car, even though this had a chip. (increased boost)

2011.12.31.

It's a strong BMW E36 M3, with 3.2l engine and modded ecu. The redline is on 8200 rpm. It has a very long 6 gear shifter. The end of the third gear is 175 km/h.

The start was not too good, because the temperature was cca. 0 degrees, but the shifts and everything else was good.

This ain't no launch champion, but it certainly makes better use of the 4x4 system than it's V6 companion.
Of course it's more powerful too, thanks mainly to the bigger KKK turbocharger, the big front mount intercooler and the suitable chip.
While the power graph is a bit wavy, it's obvious that max power comes soon after a gearchange, but that power level only drops a little while the revs run out.

2008.08.18.

After two unsuccessful attempts, the owner poured a liter of coke into the clutch... I was amazed when I saw this log there was no clutch slip in any of the gears, unlike in the first two attempts, which were terrible. Of course the smooth flooring in 2nd gear helped the clutch too. This also hurted the ET a bit.
The car is very powerful, especially considering that it's almost stock mechanically, just a bigger turbo, a free flow exhaust and race injector nozzles were installed, then the ECU was chipped.
