1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

Dragracing.hu's race series' S1 category record holder and points classification leader.
Drag specific engine, Toyo R88 tires, LSD and sport suspension.
Traction is quite good in 1st, actually tires stop spinning around 2.5 second point due to (relative) lack of power. The gearshifts are fast, and 3rd gear is just about long enough to reach the finish line.

As its registration plate says it's "DS Pista". The driver is from Slovakia, but he is racing frequently in Hungary. We were lucky to log his best run of the day at the Rabaring. Officially it was timed 13.65 @ 166 km/h. After a spectacular burnout, we recorded a pretty good 0.7g acceleration. It's especially good on the poor surface of the Rabaring. The high spikes after the gearchanges suggest that the clutch is in top condition, biting really hard.

The fastest Hungarian two wheel drive Alfa. At least I was told by a prominent Alfa Club member.
The slick tires found good grip, too much in fact. As the tires stopped spinning the revs dropped along with acceleration. There was quite a bit left in this launch.
The engine is strong, the shifts are rapid the result is nice! Officially this run was timed 13.78 @ 166 km/h.

We have logged this car previously with another owner, but as the car is the same, I grouped the two logs together.

Rábaring, 2007.09.29.

A unique vehicle from Slovakia, an air cooled Tatra V8 powered dragster. It was some problems with traction, it has too much of it for the power it makes.
Still it's not a bad start, and it could pull much better times with the smaller diameter tires.
(Click for official timeslips of this run and the best.)
The car is quite heavy for what it is at 800 kg, including the driver.
On paper this engine does 170 HP, and guestimating the transmission losses, the horses are still there.

It's a full street legal Diesel Golf II with tempomat, and a lot of good things. :-) And it is a very fast car too. Thist start was very good, because the tyres was summer tyres and the weather was cold. The tyres are spinning in the first and second gear too and the shifts are good too.

Significantly lighter, with a newer (still Mi16) engine on slick tires. No problems with the gear changes this time, although they could be faster. The launch is also weaker than last time, but at least it's a good, clear run.

Stock engine, but the car is lightened quite a bit, for example it has a fiberglass roof.
Not a bad start, although first gear was overrevved a bit. It could still spin its slick tires. This was his best qualifying run of the day.

A very careful start, saving the gearbox, which is the well known achilles heel of the GTRs. Afterwards it's all right, altough power output is constantly dropping as the revs climb up. But no big deal.
