1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

Click on the small chart to see them in bigger, with options to change rollout, tune it virtually, etc...

Alpina B12 6.0 L (BMW)

Quite a rare car, this huge whale and it's even longer than the average 7 series, being the "langversion".
Alpina buys a complete 750, changes a few things, like wheels, instruments, trim, bores up the engine to 6 liters and markets the car for those for whom a BMW 750 will not do.
It's got a 5 speed automatic gearbox, and plenty of power to pull a good start without tricks.
Very nice curves, almost straight lines! :)
The power output however seems down quite a bit from the official specification, even when calculating with huge drivetrain losses.

German page about the model.

Tököl, 2008.10.26.

It's not a good start, especially because it was on slicks. Shifting up at 35 km/h is not a good idea, but power is there in second to pull through. But shifting up to 3rd at 70 km/h is a major mistake. Turbo lag big time. An attempt was made to rev it up by kicking the clutch, but it didn't help at so low engine speed.
The driver also hit the limiter in 3rd, so there's not much nice to write about. Well, except for the power output, which is very good for such a low budget car this is. Official time was 14.188 @ 168 km/h. It was the best result in a total of 7 attempts.

Since last year's log, the car got a new owner and a new engne as well. It still produces the same power, and it's got a little heavier.
The ET figures are pretty close, the main difference coming from a slightly better 60 feet and the noticably faster shift times.

In fact it's an A8 with S8 engine and transmission.
What is surprising, is the big holes in the acceleration curves during the gearshift. I can't even recall the last time I saw something similar with an automatic gearbox.
Still, the results are very good considering the 2 ton weight.
How heavy would it be if it was made out of steel not aluminium? :)

Lancia Delta HF Integrale (Gergievo)

2005.10.14.

A very nicely restored 8v Integrale with untouched engine and transmission. The stock power doesn't allow for a tire spinning launch, and the clutch wouldn't tolerate slipping, so this was the best we could manage. At the 1.5 second point the throttle was eased back a bit to allow the clutch to engage properly.
In third gear at 110 km/h (70 mph) the boost decreased by a few psi causing a 20 bhp drop in the power output at the wheels. This was probably caused by some sort of engine safety equipment

Honda Integra Type-R (RT)
(1 people)    photo 1  _2_  _3_     carstyling.hu datasheet

2005.03.16.

A revvy Integra Type-R. I know all Hondas are revvy, but this one is even more. See a snapshot of the tacho a few tenths before the gearchange. (photo 3)
It's clear to see from the chart, that as it revs higher, it changes gears at higher speeds than the other similarly fast ITR we logged before.
Launch is far from perfect, but not too bad either.
