1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

Noticable improvements. While the tailwind must have helped a bit, it's quite obvious that now there was wheelspin in 2nd gear too, unlike last year, when there was a bog down. The start is OK too, delivering the reference level 0.5g nicely.

Since the last log the launch got worse, but more power compensates. It's almost a '9' , even if it's only 1/8 mile. :) The extra power mainly comes from the intercooler being in its place now. :)

2005.08.14.

A chipped mk4 Golf logged with an active anti slip system. The resultant g forces in first gear are not bad, but the attack of the g line is too soft, a whole second is spent acclereting less than ideal.

2007.02.17.

The E36 320i 24V engine moves the old E30 chassis quite well. The car has a 40% LSDbut it was very cold, traction is all-right, and it seems that's about as much as we can expect from any beemer running street tires.

It has improved again, if only by just a few horses.
There's nothing wrong with the run, except for a slight hesitation in 3rd gear, but it was over quickly.

2005.06.01.

We did quite a few runs eventually settling with this one. We had better launches, but then had problems with the gearshifts, or we simply lost power due to heat soak caused by long idling before the run.
Anyway, this was the best overall. The car seems to know that 0.5 g is a benchmark for FWD vehicles, it sits right on the line for quite long in first. Another interesting aspect is the turbo lag effect noticable both in 2nd and 3rd gear. Interesting, modern turbocharged cars doesn't have lag. Perhaps it's not lag, just a kind of extra urge near the redline.

Skoda Favorit 1.5 (FM2000)

2007.04.21.

Since the last time we logged this Favorit, its engine grew to 1.5 liters and lost quite a bit of weight too.
It runs very smooth, the g curve have unusally low amount of noise.
The car pulls the obligatory 0.5 Gs, even in 2nd gear for a short while. The power output is a very nice flat curve all through the used rev range.
