1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

2006.05.18.

1.3 8V with a T3 turbo, Punto GT camshaft, ported head and Iaw ECU, around 1.2 bar boost.
We logged on a quite dusty tarmac with road tires.
Not much traction, as you can see. And from 3rd gear on, the big turbo shows some lag too.

2006.05.18.

We logged this car in 2004, but back then it was running a 1.6 8v engine, and now it's on Mi-16.
Pretty nice run with a good start, no problems whatsoever.

Fertõszentmiklós, 2005.08.14.

An interesting car, with an ultra short gearbox. First gear runs out at just 35 km/h, and second is over just before 55 km/h. (The gearbox is non standard!)
It's a pretty clever run, look at these gearchanges, the fastest I have seen. At just 160 ms spent without accelerating the shift between 1st and 2nd gear is almost as fast as the Enzo's box...
But studying the chart, we thought it might be wise to try to launch the car in 2nd gear. It worked, the best ET of the day dropped from 15.5 to 15.42. (official timing)

Compared to its previous run there is noticable power gain and the launch also got better, no slipping clutch here.

Stock Punto GT with a SEB1 chip.
Quite a good launch on street tires.
First gear was overrevved a bit, but not too much.
The power curve is quite flat, altough in 2nd gear a slight drop is noticable.

This run was done on wet tarmac, so this start can be considered quite good. In fact the whole run is quite OK.

It's quite a weak start for an AWD vehicle, the clutch was slipping instead of the tires.
