1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

Modified intake and exhaust manifolds and a custom chip tuning gives more grunt for the 1.8T.
Traction was not too good, but it's still OK for a heavy FWD. The upshifts are fast, still there's noticable hesitation after each shift, you could call it turbolag probably. What is more interesting is the drop of power just before the 1/4mile finish line in 4th. I can't say it's defenetely not driver induced, but I suspect it's more of a temporary power reduction of the ECU, detecting an abnormality caused by the chip.

Totyi is making progress. Since the first log it got a new 4-1 exhaust manifold and some other bits, raising power at the wheels with around 20 HP.
The launch is OK, although it's no better than before. There is also some room for improvement in the gear changes, despite the TRD short-shifter. ;)
The spike after the 6 second point is caused by the the hard suspension, the poor logger mounting and the bad road surface.

BMW's road legal people carrier tank with the 4.4 liter engine. It's a bit surprising to see that it just a tiny bit faster than the catalog data for the 3.0 liter version. (0-100: 8.3 seconds) The 4.4 is listed at 7.0 seconds.
Come on, it's way too impossible.
The VW Touareg quite similarly sized, similar in power output also has an auto gearbox with four wheel drive, but it's significantly faster.

Since the last log it was reveled that the weight much significantly more than we thought then.
There's a little power hike, and 2nd gear was revved longer, the improvement mainly comes from this, but the launch got a little better too.

Rábaring, 2005.07.17.

It was far from the best run we have logged. This was hardly suprprising as he did 20(!) qualifying runs that day. Anyway, the launch is poor for an RWD car. A lot of potential to decrease his ET with proper tires and suspension. Part of the problem is that weightsaving was taken to the maximum on the car, hardly any weight over the rear axle.
The ET on this run as also affected by the missed shift into 3rd. Considering that it's not a bad 0-100 kmh sprint from an old Lada.

Kiskunlacháza, 2006.10.07.

We logged two runs but none of them were clean. In this run 3rd gear couldn't be selected on the driver's first attempt, hampering the result. There was also a problem in 4th gear, when the ECU limited the boost just 70 meters before the 1/4 mile finish line.

First gear is overrevved a bit, but otherwise otherwise it's a nice, clean run. There was even a bit of a wheelspin in 2nd too, not too much.

Too soft start, but it reaches good traction levels later on, while power lasts. Still this launch was better than the other attempt with spinning tires. Probably it was because Opel's have a tendency to spin only one tire, thus loosing a lot of traction.
The gearshift from 2nd to 3rd is a bit slow, but there're no other problems.
