1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

There's quite long 'pickup' in acceleration, but eventually it reaches the FWD benchmark 0.5 g.
This launch was wheelspinning all the way in first, and this was the best out of three attempts. But the second best is a very different curve, and only 0.01 seconds slower. So I also put up that chart, but just as a passive picture. Click here to see it.
In that run, wheelspinning was minimal, so after a 1.5 seconds, when the tires found grip, the revs dropped and so did power. For a short time you can see a much lower acceleration figure. Then the driver kicked in the clutch for a moment, this first resulted in a light deceleration, but as soon as the pedal rised back, the wheels were spinning again. Surely not the best way to launch a VTI, but it's an interesting technic. :)

Alfa's 2 liter V6 is quite unique in being such a small displacement engine. Of course with the turbo's help it's not such a small engine anymore. :)
The start is promising, hitting more than 0.6 g, but soon after this the tires find grip and the acceleration drops a bit. With more wheelspin the peak would have been lower, but so would be the ET.
The gearchanges are quite rapid, and with the long gears it only needs 3 gears to complete the 1/4 mile.

2008.10.19.

Noticable improvement since last year. The launch is quite a bit different, with less clutch slip, but the 60 feet time is still the same. From now on the slightly increased power and the extended rev range helps to reach the nicer figures.

Fertõszentmiklós, 2005.07.24.

It's a too smooth start, I can't even call it a launch. The first half second was pent reaching the actually quite good acceleration level in first gear. But it's a diesel, so you have to shift up early, third gear is over soon over 60 mph.
The car was winner of the street diesel car class at the race, where we logged.

A bog standard, brand new Saab with a 1.9 liter turbodiesel engine. While it has an automatic gearbox the gearchanges are clearly noticable on the log.

2011.10.21.

The newest Ford Focus RS. And it has more power, than the stock. It has bigger intercooler, sport exhaust, bigger injectors, higher turbo boost, and modded stock ecu. We log only the performance in this run, because the temperature was only cca. 0 degree, and the car can't start well. But the 80-120 km/h result is pretty good, but the car made this only in the third gear. The power is nice and healthy, and there is no performance loosing on higher rpm.
