1/8 MILE RUNS
In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

Click on the small chart to see them in bigger, with options to change rollout, tune it virtually, etc...

5.0 liter V8, High Output. Well, that's what Ford thinks. :)
Traction was crap unfortunately because of the weather being freezing cold and the worn summer tires. True to its name the gearstick sticks. I tried it myself too, it was damn hard to change from 1st to 2nd, and the shift was very slow during the log too.
And while we didn't rev the car beyond 5000, the power figures drop at higher revs. Strange.
But the V8 doesn't lie, it's still faster than your average daily driver.

With a C 16 SE from an Astra. The car has tubular exhaust manifold, cone filter and 200 000 km on the clock. :)
The shifts are quite rapid, it helped to keep the tires spinning in 2nd gear too. Or just one tire, as it is usually the case with Opels? I don't know.

For almost 3 liters of displacement this car doesn't have a high power output. Rear wheel drive helps a bit with a so-so pullaway. As usual, the best attempt was made with a tire smoking start, altough it could be improved a bit further. From the 1.7 second point there just wasn't enough power to keep the tires spinning.

2008.04.05.

We have logged this car with its original 1.6 8v engine, but now it's sporting a 1.9 16v MI16 engine. The gearbox is quite a bit worn, shifting up from 1st into 2nd is often problematic. To ensure a successful upshift, the driver wasn't trying too fast. It's obvious from looking at the chart, that 2nd to 3rd is faster, while normally that is much harder to master.

Very similar to the other 2.2 TDCi Mondeo we logged earlire, thogh the start is a bit worse. Power wise this one has a slight advantage, as you can see on the virtual race chart, from 200meters to 300meters the speed difference starts to decrease.

Kaposújlak, 2005.04.16.

This run was done on a quite poor quality concrete, not tarmac. Considering this, the launch is not bad at all. After 2 seconds of wheelspin, the tires find grip, revs drop, and the engine tries to accelerate the car by power. I call this the typical Honda g-curve.
The gearchanges on the other hand are very fast! So good driving. There was a passanger on board too.

Lada 21074 1.6 A csoport (Feu)

2009.04.01.

Group A Lada 1.6 with a straight-cut dog-box. Intermediate tires on dry tarmac. As the chassis was vibrating badly, I had to use much more smoothing than usual. The first gearshift is quite slow, as the homologated Lada gearbox's first gear is where usually the 5th is. 2nd is where 1st is in everyday cars. So first gearshift is prominent, as it's slow, but later ones are faster, and because of the increased smoothing appears much smaller than usual.
Traction is not too good, but then it's a rally car, getting off the line well is not their primary concern.

Kaposújlak, 2005.04.16.

This 156 has a chipped diesel engine.
A bit overly cautious getting off the line, but then it pulls quite good in first. But then it has to shifted up early. It's a diesel. :)
The driver opted to overrev third gear, he thought it will help him to get a better time.

VW Caddy TD
(1 people)    photo 1

2005.01.05.

A small van with a tuned 1.9 TD engine. It has some problems with boost control, as you can see on the chart, power drops significantly in 3rd geard, when a safety valve bleeds boosts. After the gearchange it goes again, but it drops just like before.
The launch is quite good actually, a bit of a lift-off, but quite good traction, probably helped by the "ideal" weight distribution.
