1/8 MILE RUNS

In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

	A turbocharged 2.0 Capri, running K-jet fuel injection. There's a lot to be fixed, this traction is very bad. It would be very bad even for a front wheel drive car. The fact that it was basically one wheel drive plays a big part, a limited slip diff would help quite a bit.

	2 liter 16v engine. Quite a bad start. I don't know what caused the bog-down, but it hurts the ET. Also power run out soon after the first 2 seconds, wheels stopped spinning, revs dropped, even less acceleration. But from the gearchange it's fine.

	The launch is below average, but overall the run is ok. The peaky power curve is very noticable in each gear. People used to say that you need to rev it to get the power out. While that is true, it's worth noticing that the acceleration curve is dead flat in each gear. (Torque at the wheels is near constant throughout the used rev range)

A nice Lada with a "large" 1.7 liter engine, twin carbs and the lot. Not a bad launch, in fact it's quite good with standard tires on ordinary tarmac. A better gearbox would help reduce the times, there's a lot of time wasted between gears.

	An average start, and very soon comes the first upshift, so there's a bit of wheelsping in 2nd gear too. In 3rd and 4th gear there's a bit of hesitation after the clutch is engaged, probaly just turbo lag, or the ECU is trying to save the transmission. Still, it's quite a nice run.
