1/8 MILE RUNS

In Hungary dragracing is mostly over 1/8 mile, mostly because of the lack of suitable tracks.
Racing is more open this way, distance lost during a bad launch are harder to recover.

	The car is a 1986 Fors Escort. The stock engine is a 1.6 Ke-Jetronic, but this engine is a 91' 1.6 XR3i EFi (105 hp stock). It has 60 mm exhaust. The run was totally clean, and the engine hold the power on the high rpm too. At the start it can make better time with better tyres. If he make better 60" time, he can run the stock 0-100 km/h time too very easily.

	2 tons, but V8 power. Not a powerful SBC, though. Still, these performance figures are still respectable. At Kunmadaras, the car did 17sec 1/4 miles, but I'm not sure what was the ET exactly. Anyway, with rollout this run is also almost 17sec.

	110BHP in stock form, but this one got a chipped ECU, bigger intercooler and turbo. The launch is average, we rarely see significantly better starts from heavy FWD cars on street tires. Early in 2nd, -and to less extent in 3rd gear- there's a bit of turbo lag. As the driver didn't accelerate past 110 km/h we don't have either a 1/4 mile ET or a 80-120 km/h figure.

	This Punto didn't really had traction in 1st while the tires were spinning, but as soon as the slip started to disappear, acceleration went up to 0.5 g. Maybe only one tire was spinning, I don't know.

	I logged my rent car as a practice for the race weekend. :) It was almost new, just 5000 km on the clocks. I could have tried harder, but I'm not the type who trash the rent car. I was just curious.
