I remembered that I took a log of this -now 10second- Viper back in 2005. At that time it had the original manual gearbox, and BF/G drag radial tires, and single point nitrous injection.

km/h. You have to set an unrealistically long 20" rollout to match the ET, while the trap speeds are significantly lower than in my log. That's a bit of a paradox. Anyway, this timing system is now retired, so let's talk about the run.
As you can see, the car was very powerful even then, but it couldn't do much with its power.
Launch seems weak, but we have to note that this track (Rabaring) offers very low traction. In fact the Viper had the best 60 feet among the rear wheel driven cars. After a sluggish upshift, there's a "hole" very much like turbo lag, which is suprising to say the least. It's better from 3rd gear onwards, but the peaky engine characteristic is clearly shown.
Bottom line: With around the same peak power it was around 2 seconds slower than it is now.
