Opel Astra 3.0 V6 (Xawery) Tököl, 2006. October 22.

Xawery Mielcarek came from Poland to race at Tököl with his 3 liter 24v Opel Astra. In Hungary highly tuned naturally aspirated engined cars are very rare in drag racing. In fact apart from a few fast Hondas I can't think of any... He had no problem winning his category even against 2 liter turbo 2WDs and 3.8 liter M power E30's. In fact it's the fastest n/a engined car we have ever logged! And it's an FWD! Even with the most conservative flywheel-HP estimate he found more than 100 HP in the originally 210 HP engine. Worth checking the engine bay photos. And it's not just an engine, the car also has trick Quaiffe diff and a custom ratio gearbox. First gear is quite tall, but subsequent gears are short. Very much like a track car. ;) The only problem which is evident from the log is the launch. Perhaps it was intentional to save the drivetrain, but Xawery didn't floored the loud pedal before he reached 20 km/h. From then on it's a very clean run: excellent traction, fast upshifts. This run was officially timed 11.8, so it was less than a tenth slower than his best ever run, which followed right after this.
