"Avoid dampers that use the twin tube design, and only consider monotube dampers. LEDA, Spax, Protec, GAZ are all twin tube dampers and are all cheap as well.... They don't perform as well as a monotube damper because a twin tube damper has a tube within the damper body and a monotube doesn't. This give the monotube more space internally for the shims (that provide the damping by running through the oil within the damper) and oil (more oil means that the dampers will perform for longer before overheating the oil and making it thin, and also the oil won't degrade as fast so the dampers will perform as designed for longer, giving longer rebuild intervals)."
